Regular Season Round 36: Niigata Albirex - SeaHorses 74-91

Date: February 4, 2017
An interesting game for Aishin Sea Horses (25-8) which played road game in Niigata against 3rd ranked Niigata Albirex (18-17). First ranked Aishin Sea Horses had an easy win 91-74. Aishin Sea Horses outrebounded Niigata Albirex 36-24 including a 27-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: Connecticut) who scored that evening 21 points and 8 rebounds and the former international center JR Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) supported him with 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 24 points and 8 rebounds by American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) did not help to save the game for Niigata Albirex. His fellow American import power forward Clint Chapman (208-89, college: Texas) added 21 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Aishin Sea Horses maintains first position with 25-8 record. Loser Niigata Albirex keeps the third place with 17 games lost. They share the position with Osaka Evessa. Aishin Sea Horses will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Niigata Albirex will play again against the league's leader Aishin Sea Horses and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
