Regular Season Round 3: Guantanamo - Capitalinos 61-81

An interesting game was also a 20-point home defeat of Guantanamo in a game versus Capitalinos (#5) 81-61. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 81-61. Capitalinos outrebounded Guantanamo 31-10 including a 22-8 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for forward Hector Martinto (197-94) who led the winners and scored 21 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Guard Daniel Simon (185-96) accounted for 10 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Four Capitalinos players scored in double figures. Swingman Elvis Pons (194-83) came up with 14 points and the former international swingman Yoanis Soria (195-86) added 18 points respectively for Guantanamo in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Capitalinos will meet at home Villa Clara in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Guantanamo will play against Guerreros (#4) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
