Regular Season Round 3: Santiago - Camaguey 87-76

First defeat of Tigres (2-1) against Santiago (1-2) 87-76 was the most important game of the last round. The hosts trailed by 8 points at the halftime before their 52-33 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Santiago dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Tigres' 48. Santiago forced 19 Tigres turnovers and outrebounded them 35-13 including a 24-7 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for the former international forward Esteban Martinez (192-87) who led his team to a victory with 44 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds. Eddy Siria contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Yoimar Lopez (-96) answered with 17 points and 4 assists and forward Keiler Cala (195-94) added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Tigres. Tigres' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Tigres will play next round against strong Pinar trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Santiago will try to continue on its current victory against Ciego in Avila.
