Regular Season Round 26: El Jaysh - Al Shamal 65-35

Another interesting game was also this time a derby match between local teams from Doha: El Jaysh (#1) and Al Shamal (#6). El Jaysh (14-0) smashed visiting Al Shamal (4-10) by 30 points 65-35. The game without a history. El Jaysh led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Al Shamal to just 5 points in first quarter and to 14 points in first half. El Jaysh dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Al Shamal's 22. El Jaysh forced 25 Al Shamal turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Al Shamal's players. The best player for the winners was American power forward Vernon Macklin (208-86, college: Florida) who scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Naturalized Senegalese forward Alioune Badara Ndoye (199-86) chipped in 11 points and 5 rebounds. El Jaysh had such big advantage that coach felt comfortable to give the chance to play for 11 players saving starting five for next games. Guard Elhag Ali Saleh (191) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 13 rebounds and swingman Abdul Kosar (192) added 16 points respectively for the guests. El Jaysh have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 14-0 record. Loser Al Shamal dropped to the seventh place with ten games lost. El Jaysh's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Ahli.
