Regular Season Round 15: Mgzavrebi - Batumi 99-60

An interesting game was also a 39-point surprising road defeat of 4th ranked Batumi in a game in Tbilisi versus Mgzavrebi (#8) 99-60. The game without a history. Mgzavrebi led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Batumi to just 7 points in third and fourth quarters. Mgzavrebi dominated down low during the game scoring 82 of its points in the paint compared to Batumi's 40. Mgzavrebi forced 20 Batumi turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Batumi's players. It was an exceptional evening for American point guard Kaheem Ransom (185, college: Sam Houston St.) who led the winners and scored 27 points and 4 assists. His fellow American import center Reggie Murphy (208-91, college: Henderson St.) accounted for 15 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. Five Mgzavrebi players scored in double figures. International Kakhaber Jintcharadze (195-93) came up with 19 points and 6 rebounds and American center Chris Pelcher (208-91, college: New Hampshire) added 11 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Batumi in the defeat. Batumi's coach Davit Ustiashvili gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Mgzavrebi maintains eighth place with 2-13 record. Batumi lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the fifth position with nine games lost. They share it with Cactus Tbilisi. Mgzavrebi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Cactus Tbilisi.
