Second Stage Round 7: Tsmoki-Minsk - Gorizont 58-72

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Tsmoki-Minsk (12-4) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by Gorizont (13-3) 72-58. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Tsmoki-Minsk. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Gorizont. Tsmoki-Minsk managed to win fourth quarter 15-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gorizont forced 25 Tsmoki-Minsk turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Yuliya Rytsikava (181-86) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 6 rebounds. French point guard Najat Ouardad (152-90, college: Auburn, agency: LBM Management) contributed with 13 points, 7 assists and 4 steals for the winners. The former international forward Ala Murauskaya (187-85) answered with 18 points and 5 assists and forward Ekateryna Rybalka (182-98) added 7 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Tsmoki-Minsk. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader. Tsmoki-Minsk at the other side dropped to the third place with four games lost. Gorizont are looking forward to face Sozh-GGU (#4) in Gomel in the next round. Tsmoki-Minsk will play on the road against the league's second-placed Olimpia GrGAU in Grodno and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
