Regular Season Round 21: Barons Riga - Liepaja/Triobet 81-100

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 6th ranked Barons Riga (8-10) was smashed at home by seventh ranked Liepaja/Triobet (9-11) 100-81 on Sunday. The game without a history. Liepaja/Triobet led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 24-of-30 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Liepaja/Triobet looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Barons Riga was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American guard Malcolm Griffin (193-91, college: Fresno Pacific, agency: Promotex) who led his team to a victory with 19 points and 4 assists. His fellow American import forward Carl Montgomery (203, college: Chicago St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Five Liepaja/Triobet players scored in double figures. Center Davis Rozitis (215-90, college: Hawaii) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and Davis Geks (192-95) added 18 points in the effort for Barons Riga. Liepaja/Triobet moved-up to sixth place. Barons Riga at the other side dropped to the seventh position with ten games lost. Liepaja/Triobet will face higher ranked Jurmala (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Barons Riga will play against Jekabpils and hope to win that game.
