Regular Season Round 36: Shimane SM - Gunma 95-54

The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of top-ranked Gunma (23-11) on the court of second ranked Shimane Magic on Sunday night. Visitors were rolled over by Shimane Magic 95-54. The game without a history. Shimane Magic led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Gunma's 30. They outrebounded Gunma 39-20 including a 29-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Shimane Magic especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 64.3 percentage. It was a good game for American forward Josh Davis (203-91, college: San Diego St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds. The other American import center Wayne Marshall (211-86, college: Temple) contributed with 13 points for the winners. Five Shimane Magic players scored in double figures. Guard Fumiaki Hanano (172-95) replied with 8 points and 4 assists and Nigerian forward Abdullahi Kuso (206-84, college: Tallahassee CC) added 6 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Gunma. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Shimane Magic (27-6) have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain second position having just one point less than leader Gunma. Gunma at the other side still keeps top place with 11 games lost. Shimane Magic are looking forward to face Iwate Big Bulls (#6) on the road in the next round. Gunma will play against Tokyo Z (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
