Regular Season Round 36: Nishinomiya S. - Kagawa FA 85-84

Fifth-ranked Kagawa FA (10-24) was very close to win a game against second ranked Nishinomiya S. (24-10) in Hyogo on Sunday. Nishinomiya S. managed to secure only one-point victory 85-84. However their fans expected easier game. The hosts trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 22-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Nishinomiya S. outrebounded Kagawa FA 45-29 including 17 on the offensive glass. The winners were led by swingman Naoki Tani (193-88) who scored that evening 23 points and American forward Larry Owens (201-83, college: ORU, agency: Three Eye Sports) supported him with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Four Nishinomiya S. players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 23 points and 11 rebounds by American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-90, college: Portland St.) did not help to save the game for Kagawa FA. Point guard Rintaro Tokunaga (177-86) added 8 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Nishinomiya S. maintains second position with 24-10 record behind leader Gunma. Kagawa FA lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 24 games lost. Nishinomiya S. will meet league's leader Dragonflies in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Kagawa FA will play against Bambitious Nara (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
