Regular Season Round 37: Toshiba BT - Ryukyu GK 87-76

Everything went according to plan in Kanagawa where first ranked Toshiba Thunders (31-5) beat 5th ranked Ryukyu GK (15-21) 87-76 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Toshiba Thunders. Ryukyu GK was better in fourth quarter 29-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and Senegalese swingman Mamadou Diouf (197-77, college: Delaware) chipped in 10 points and 9 rebounds. At the losing side American forward Reyshawn Terry (203-84, college: N.Carolina) responded with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and international guard Ryuichi Kishimoto (176-90) scored 17 points and 5 assists. Five Toshiba Thunders and four Ryukyu GK players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Toshiba Thunders have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 31-5 record. Loser Ryukyu GK keeps the fifth position with 21 games lost. Toshiba Thunders will face Osaka Evessa (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Ryukyu GK will play against Hitachi Sunrockers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
