Regular Season Round 36: Tokyo Excel. - Iwate Big Bulls 80-66

Rather expected game when 6th ranked Iwate Big Bulls (9-25) lost on the road to fourth ranked Tokyo Excel. (12-21) 80-66 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 80-66. Strangely Iwate Big Bulls outrebounded Tokyo Excel. 39-27 including 28 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Tokyo Excel. made 7 blocks. It was a good game for guard Tatsuya Nishiyama (171-88) who led his team to a victory with 22 points and 4 assists. American center Ryan Stephan (208-94, college: Colorado Mesa) contributed with 9 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American center Donald Lawson (208-88, college: W.Michigan) replied with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 16 rebounds and his fellow American import power forward Nicchaeus Doaks (201-87, college: Chattanooga) added 15 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Iwate Big Bulls. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Tokyo Excel. maintains fourth position with 12-21 record. Loser Iwate Big Bulls keep the sixth place with 25 games lost. Tokyo Excel. will face higher ranked Kumamoto V. (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Iwate Big Bulls will play against the league's second-placed Shimane Magic and hope to win that game.
