Rather predictable result in Hamamatsu where second ranked Sanen Neophoenix (22-14) defeated 5th ranked Sendai 89ers (9-27) 73-61 on Sunday. The game without a history. Sanen Neophoenix led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. American swingman Josh Childress (203-83, college: Stanford) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import forward Robert Dozier (206-85, college: Memphis) chipped in 20 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side South African center Tshilidzi Nephawe (208-89, college: N.Mexico St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds and American guard Wendell White (198-84, college: UNLV) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. Sendai 89ers' coach Takeo Mabashi rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Sanen Neophoenix have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 22-14 record having nine points less than leader Tochigi Brex. Sendai 89ers lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with 27 games lost. Sanen Neophoenix will face league's leader Tochigi Brex on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sendai 89ers will play against Shiga L-Stars (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
