Regular Season Round 19: Persbraten - Froya Basket 77-87

Date: February 5, 2017
Very predictable result in Oslo where third ranked Froya Basket (13-7) defeated bottom-ranked Persbraten (1-21) 87-77 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Froya Basket. Persbraten was better in third quarter 18-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Froya Basket forced 22 Persbraten turnovers and outrebounded them 46-34 including 33 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for American forward Jeff Harper (203-87) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 16 rebounds. Latvian guard Edmunds Gabrans (188-79) helped adding 13 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Harper is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Froya Basket players scored in double figures. Froya Basket's coach Brent Hackman used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. At the losing side forward Christian Bakken (198-88) responded with 15 points and forward Eivind Jorgensen (195-94) scored 18 points. Froya Basket maintains third place with 13-7 record having nine points less than leader Kongsberg. Persbraten lost their ninth game in a row. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 21 lost games. Froya Basket will face Ammerud Bskt (#9) in Oslo in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Persbraten will play at home against Gimle BBK and hope to win that game.
