We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 10th ranked Cecina (8-10) was outscored at home by eleventh ranked Bottegone (9-10) 86-63 on Sunday. Bottegone made 38-of-49 free shots (77.6 percent) during the game, while Cecina only scored thirteen points from the stripe. Cecina was plagued by 36 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for Daniele Toscano (196-93, agency: Players Group) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds. Naturalized Bulgarian guard Georgi Sirakov (187-92, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 22 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Simone Lasagni (184-94) answered with 17 points and point guard Giuliano Biancani (187-84) added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Cecina. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Cecina's coach Giacomo Bandieri gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Bottegone moved-up to tenth place in B. Loser Cecina dropped to the eleventh position with ten games lost. Bottegone will face Siena Virtus (#13) at home in the next round. Cecina will play against Piombino and hope to win that game.
