Regular Season Round 19: Barcellona - Cassino 71-65

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when fifth ranked Basket Barcellona (13-5) defeated at home 4th placed Cassino (13-6) 71-65 on Sunday. Strangely Cassino outrebounded Basket Barcellona 46-30 including 33 on the defensive glass. It was a very good performance for guard Daniele Grilli (191-87) who helped to win the game recording 15 points. Power forward Giacomo Sereni (202-84) contributed with 12 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. The former international power forward Simone Bagnoli (205-81) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds (made all of his ten free throws !!!) and naturalized Argentinian forward Duilio Birindelli (200-84) added 8 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Cassino. Cassino's coach Luca Vettese rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Basket Barcellona moved-up to fourth place in B which they share with defeated Cassino. Loser Cassino keeps the fourth position with six games lost. Basket Barcellona will face league's leader Napoli Cuore on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cassino will play against Maddaloni and hope to win that game.
