Regular Season Round 16: Umbertide - Venezia 62-81

The game in Umbertide was also worth to mention about. Third ranked Venezia (13-2) played at the court of 7th ranked Umbertide (6-10). Venezia did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 81-62. It looked good early as Umbertide took a 5-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Venezia had a 22-13 second period charge getting the lead and Umbertide was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 62-81. Venezia had a 19-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Romanian power forward Ashley Walker (187-87, college: California) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Debora Carangelo (169-92) who added 17 points during the contest. Four Venezia players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Antiesha Brown (178-92, college: N.Mexico) responded with 21 points and her fellow American import power forward Kierra Mallard (188-90, college: Texas Tech) scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. Venezia have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 13-2 record having just one point less than leader Lucca. Umbertide at the other side keeps the seventh place with ten games lost. Venezia will play against league's leader Lucca at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Umbertide will play against Battipaglia (#11) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
