Regular Season Round 18: Mann Filter - Avenida 70-73

Eighth-ranked Mann Filter (8-10) gave a tough game to first ranked Perfumerias Avenida (17-1) in Zaragoza on Sunday. The visitors from Salamanca managed to secure only three-point victory 73-70. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Mann Filter won third quarter 19-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Perfumerias Avenida made 23-of-27 free shots (85.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Mann Filter turnovers. Strangely Mann Filter outrebounded Perfumerias Avenida 37-25 including 25 on the defensive glass. American-FYR Macedonian Chrissy Givens (180-85, college: Middle Tenn.St.) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Serbian Jelena Milovanovic (190-89) chipped in 18 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was American guard Roneeka Hodges (180-82, college: Florida St., agency: Josep and Nicolas) with 25 points and 4 assists and Dutch guard Natalie Van Den Adel (185-90, college: Colorado St.) scored 18 points. Perfumerias Avenida have an impressive 12-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 17-1 record. Mann Filter at the other side keeps the eighth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Cadi La Seu and Gipuzkoa UPV. Perfumerias Avenida are looking forward to face Gernika (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Mann Filter will play against Universitario de Ferrol (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
