The game in Camaguey was also quite interesting. Fourth ranked Santiago de Cuba (5-5) played at the court of 5th ranked Camaguey (5-5). Santiago de Cuba managed to secure a 7-point victory 53-46 on Monday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Camaguey won third quarter 13-8. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Santiago de Cuba dominated on the defensive end, holding Camaguey to just 7 points in first quarter. Santiago de Cuba forced 19 Camaguey turnovers. The best player for the winners was power forward Yuliannes Leyva (185-95) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Santiago de Cuba moved-up to third place, which they share with Sancti Spiritus and Camaguey. Santiago de Cuba will meet at home Sancti Spiritus (#5) in the next round. Camaguey will play against the league's leader Capitalinas in La Habana and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
