Regular Season Round 17: Shiraz a.s Pipe - Army 78-102

Bottom-ranked Shiraz a.s Pipe (0-16) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 16th consecutive match to eighth ranked Army (5-11) 102-78 on Monday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Army. Shiraz a.s Pipe managed to win fourth quarter 23-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Army shot 61.4 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 53.6 percentage. The best player for the winners was the former international Vahid Dalirzahan (199-95) who scored 21 points. The former international point guard Farid Aslani (183-88) chipped in 13 points and 5 assists. Four Army players scored in double figures. Army's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Amir Allahverdi produced 22 points and 4 assists and forward Hamzeh Aghajari (185-87) added 23 points respectively for the hosts. Army maintains eighth place with 5-11 record. Shiraz a.s Pipe lost their sixteenth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings. Army will meet at home higher ranked Arak (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Shiraz a.s Pipe will play against the league's leader Petrochimi (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
