Regular Season Round 17: Chemidor - Petrochimi 82-85

Fifth-ranked Chemidor (9-7) gave a tough game to first ranked Petrochimi (14-2) in Tehran on Monday. The visitors from Bandar Imam managed to secure only three-point victory 85-82. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Chemidor. The guests trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 85-82. Petrochimi made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. International Behnam Yakhchali (196-95) stepped up and scored 29 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winners and American swingman James White (201-82, college: Cincinnati, agency: Three Eye Sports) chipped in 27 points and 9 rebounds. American guard Daequan Cook (195-87, college: Ohio St.) responded with 31 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and Lithuanian power forward Povilas Cukinas (210-83) scored 18 points and 6 rebounds. Chemidor's coach Javad Rahmatipour rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion maintains first place with 14-2 record. Chemidor at the other side dropped to the fourth position with seven games lost. They share it with Arak and Tabriz. Petrochimi are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Shiraz a.s Pipe (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Chemidor will play against Kashan (#7) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
