Very important is a road loss of third ranked Sancti Spiritus (5-5) against fourth ranked Santiago de Cuba (5-5) on Tuesday night. Visiting Sancti Spiritus were defeated by Santiago de Cuba in Santiago 64-51. The game was mostly controlled by Santiago de Cuba. Sancti Spiritus was better in fourth quarter 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Yuliannes Leyva (185-95) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds. Forward Arianne Mena (182-85) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Five Santiago de Cuba players scored in double figures. Forward Eilen Gilbert (183-98) replied with 31 points and 6 rebounds and international center Marlenis Cepeda (193-85) added 14 points and 14 rebounds in the effort for Sancti Spiritus. Sancti Spiritus' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Santiago de Cuba moved-up to third place, which they share with Sancti Spiritus and Camaguey. Sancti Spiritus lost third consecutive game.
