Regular Season Round 5: Ciego de Avila - Guantanamo 77-69

Ciego can celebrate their first win this season after four consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Guantanamo (0-5) 77-69 on Tuesday. Guantanamo trailed by 14 points after 3 quarters before a 20-14 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 69-77 at the end of the game. Luis Castillo stepped up and scored 18 points and 7 steals for the winners and guard Dainier Martinez (184-96) chipped in 18 points and 6 steals. Four Ciego players scored in double figures. Guard Raudelis Guerra (191-93) responded with 18 points and guard Ernesto Rauseaux (192-91) scored 17 points. Guantanamo's coach Yuniel Cruz rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion maintains seventh place with 1-4 record. It was Guantanamo's fifth loss in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. Ciego will meet at home league's second-placed Pinar in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Guantanamo will play against Santiago (#6) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
