Regular Season Round 22: Souffel - St Vallier 77-72

Not a big story in a game when 7th ranked Saint Vallier (11-11) lost on the road to second ranked Souffelweyersheim (16-6) 77-72. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. It looked good early as Saint Vallier took a 8-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Souffelweyersheim had a 26-13 second period charge getting the lead and Saint Vallier was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 72-77. Souffelweyersheim players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. DR Congolese-Belgian power forward Ruphin Kayembe (200-92) scored 16 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Lithuanian power forward Giedrius Staniulis (205-91) chipped in 11 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Four Souffelweyersheim players scored in double figures. At the losing side American power forward Steffon Bradford (198-77, college: Nebraska) responded with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Jesse Delhomme (189-85) scored 14 points and 4 assists. Souffelweyersheim maintains second position with 16-6 record behind leader Quimper, which they share with Caen. Saint Vallier lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Lourdes and ALS Basket. Souffelweyersheim will play against Union Rennes (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Saint Vallier will play against Caen (#3) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
