Regular Season Round 34: Fuerza Regia - Garzas 77-81

Date: February 9, 2017
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Fuerza Regia (30-3) in Monterrey on Thursday night. Hosts were defeated by fourth ranked Garzas (20-14) 81-77. Garzas looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 29 personal fouls committed by Fuerza Regia helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized American guard Martin Samarco (190-85, college: Bowling Green) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists. The former international forward Stephen Soriano (200-85, college: Colorado Mesa) contributed with 15 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American forward Jordan Glynn (200-89, college: SF Austin) replied with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and his fellow American import forward Andy Panko (203-77, college: Lebanon Valley, agency: BeoBasket) added 13 points and 4 assists in the effort for Fuerza Regia. Five Garzas and four Fuerza Regia players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Garzas have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted Garzas maintains fourth position with 20-14 record. Fuerza Regia at the other side still keeps top place with three games lost. Garzas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Fuerza Regia will play again at home against Garzas and is hoping to win this game.
