Regular Season Round 22: Kouvot - HyPo 69-80

SM-sarja top team - HyPo (18-3) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat sixth ranked Kouvottaret (10-11) 80-69. The game was mostly controlled by HyPo. Kouvottaret was better in third quarter 22-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The former international center Taru Tuukkanen (192-77, college: Xavier) notched a double-double by scoring 19 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals to lead the effort and American guard Bria Goss (178-92, college: Kentucky) supported her with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Even 15 points and 6 assists by American guard Bianca Barton (170-90, college: Ky Wesleyan) did not help to save the game for Kouvottaret. Her fellow American import forward Whitney Frazier (180-92, college: Louisiana Tech) added 10 points and 11 rebounds for lost side. Four Kouvottaret players scored in double figures. HyPo have an impressive 11-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 18-3 record. Kouvottaret lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the sixth place with 11 games lost. HyPo will play against ViVe (#7) in Vimpeli in the next round where they are favorite. Kouvottaret will play at home against Peli-Karhut and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
