Regular Season Round 19: Aalstar - Brussels 82-90

Date: February 10, 2017
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 4th placed Okapi Aalstar (10-10) lost at home to fifth ranked Basic-Fit Brussels (10-9) 90-82 on Friday. Basic-Fit Brussels made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for American power forward Brandon Ubel (209-91, college: Nebraska, agency: Pensack Sports) who led the winners and scored 15 points and 8 rebounds. His fellow American import swingman Chris Dowe (193-91, college: Bellarmine) accounted for 13 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Five Basic-Fit Brussels players scored in double figures. Basic-Fit Brussels' coach Serge Crevecoeur used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Samoan-American power forward John Tofi (203-84, college: UTEP, agency: Pensack Sports) came up with 29 points and 8 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) and American swingman Quincy Taylor (194-82, college: UAB, agency: Diamond Sports) added 16 points respectively for Okapi Aalstar in the defeat. Basic-Fit Brussels moved-up to fourth place. Loser Okapi Aalstar dropped to the fifth position with ten games lost. Basic-Fit Brussels will meet at home higher ranked Spirou Charleroi (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Okapi Aalstar will play against Kangoeroes in Willebroek and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
