Second Stage Round 12: Livani - Jelgava 76-96

There was no surprise when 11th ranked Livani (1-13) was outplayed at home by fourth ranked Jelgava (13-4) 96-76 on Friday. The game without a history. Jelgava led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 24-of-26 free shots (92.3 percent) during the game. Jelgava looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Livani was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of center Ronalds Elksnis (203-92, college: John Brown) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and swingman Edgars Krumins (194-86) who added 13 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists during the contest. Four Jelgava players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Eduards Viksna (198-93) with 18 points and 6 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) and guard Daumants Pabrieza (183-87) scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Livani's coach Edgars Cimars rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Jelgava have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Livani lost third consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 13 games lost. Jelgava will face RTU (#9) in Riga in the next round where they are favorite. Livani will play on the road against ViA in Valmiera and hope to win that game.
