Regular Season Round 19: Cornella - Olivar 89-59
Date: February 11, 2017
Very expected game when 14th ranked Olivar (4-12) was crushed on the road by eighth ranked Cornella (8-8) 89-59 on Saturday. The game without a history. Cornella led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Olivar's 24 and made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Olivar 34-21 including a 30-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Cornella especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 4 passes made by Olivar's players. It was a great evening for point guard Bernat Alvarez (176-95) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points and 7 assists. Center Alexandre Sanmartin (202-84) helped adding 8 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Cornella players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Jaime Pradilla (198-1) responded with 9 points and 9 rebounds and forward Unai Mendicote (196-99) scored 14 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Cornella moved-up to seventh place in Group C-A. Loser Olivar dropped to the thirteenth position with 12 games lost. Cornella will face Mataro (#13) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Olivar will play against JAC Sants and hope to win that game.
