Regular Season Round 23: Araberri - Palma 76-81

There was a small surprise in Vitoria-Gasteiz where eleventh ranked Palma (12-11) defeated 9th ranked Araberri (12-11) 81-76 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 24-17. But Araberri won second period 22-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Araberri 38-27 including 26 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for forward Asier Zengotitabengoa (201-88) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points and 7 rebounds. Point guard Mikel Uriz (182-89) helped adding 21 points. American-Nigerian guard Zaid Hearst (193, college: Quinnipiac) responded with 26 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Oscar Alvarado (184-91) scored 10 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Four Araberri players scored in double figures. Araberri's coach gave the chance to play for ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Palma have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to tenth place, which they share with defeated Araberri. Araberri lost fourth consecutive game. Palma will face bottom-ranked Barca II (#18) in Barcelona in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
