We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 6th ranked Tokyo Cinq R. (10-14) was defeated at home by seventh ranked Saitama Broncos (7-17) 80-71 on Saturday. American forward Tiras Wade (200-81, college: La-Lafayette) stepped up and scored 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import guard Brent Jennings (193-88, college: So.Poly State, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds. Jennings is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Saitama Broncos players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward RJ Slawson (206-92, college: Jacksonville) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 17 rebounds and guard Kodai Takahashi (180-91) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Saitama Broncos maintains seventh place with 7-17 record. Loser Tokyo Cinq R. keeps the sixth position with 14 games lost. Saitama Broncos will face Toyoda Gosei (#8) in Aichi in the next round.
