Regular Season Round 19: UCAM Murcia II - Valencia II 88-95

There was a small surprise when fourth ranked Valencia-2 (10-7) defeated on the road much higher ranked UCAM Murcia II (11-6) 95-88 on Saturday. Valencia-2 forced 24 UCAM Murcia II turnovers. UCAM Murcia II was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for Jon Galarza (193-97) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds. Forward David Guardia (200-90) helped adding 16 points and 9 rebounds. At the losing side guard Emilio Martinez (180-98) responded with 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and center Pablo-Jose Sanchez (208-93) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. Four Valencia-2 and five UCAM Murcia II players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Valencia-2. They moved-up to third place in Group E, which they share with Cartagena. Loser UCAM Murcia II keeps the second position with six games lost. Valencia-2 will face L Alfas (#8) in Alfas Del Pi in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. UCAM Murcia II's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Murcia to the arena Myrtia.
