Regular Season Round 18: Leganes - Batalyaws 84-44

Very expected game when 10th ranked Batalyaws (6-12) was smashed on the road by second ranked Leganes (14-4) 84-44 on Saturday. Leganes held Batalyaws to an opponent 23.3 percent shooting from the field compared to 37.8 percent accuracy of the winners. Leganes forced 21 Batalyaws turnovers and outrebounded them 67-37 including a 26-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Batalyaws' players. It was a good game for American forward Christina Marinacci (185-91, college: USC) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 21 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Marta Perez (177-94) contributed with 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Leganes players scored in double figures. Leganes' coach felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Pamela Moral (175-82) replied with 13 points and 6 rebounds and British guard Chantel Charles (178-94, college: Maine) added 9 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Batalyaws. Leganes used an opportunity after Alcobendas lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position in Group B. Newly promoted Batalyaws keeps the tenth place with 12 games lost. Leganes will face Picken Claret (#11) in Valencia in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Batalyaws will play at home against Antiguo Boscos and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
