Regular Season Round 18: Alpo VF - Bologna 64-51

Very important is a road loss of first ranked Bologna (15-2) against seventh ranked Alpo VF (9-8) on Saturday night. Visiting Bologna was defeated by Alpo VF in Verona 64-51. The game was mostly controlled by Alpo VF. Bologna was better in fourth quarter 15-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Bologna to just 6 points in second quarter. It was a good game for point guard Sofia Vespignani (170-96) who led her team to a victory with 16 points and 5 assists. Swingman Marta Granzotto (175-92) contributed with 12 points for the winners. The former international point guard Raelin D'Alie (168-87, college: Wisconsin, agency: LBM Management) replied with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and the former international forward Alessandra Tava (183-91) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Bologna. Bologna's coach Paolo Andreoli rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Alpo VF maintains seventh position in A2 with 9-8 record. Bologna at the other side still keeps top place with two games lost. Alpo VF's next round opponent will be Palermo (#12) on the road where they are favorite. Bologna will play against Fanola SML (#8) and hope to win that game.
