Regular Season Round 17: Aris - Promitheas 80-64

Very expected game in Thessaloniki where 9th ranked Promitheas (6-11) was defeated by fourth ranked Aris (10-7) 80-64. The game was mostly controlled by Aris. Promitheas was better in third quarter 19-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 28 personal fouls committed by Promitheas helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American power forward Justin Jackson (204-90, college: Cincinnati) nailed 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side and his fellow American import guard Will Cummings (188-92, college: Temple) accounted for 16 points. Four Aris players scored in double figures. American point guard Jerel Blassingame (175-81, college: UNLV) came up with 15 points and point guard Nikos Gikas (186-91, agency: Octagon Europe) added 10 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Promitheas in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Aris maintains fourth place with 10-7 record. Newly promoted Promitheas keeps the ninth position with 11 games lost. Aris' next round opponent will be league's leader Olympiacos in Athens and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Promitheas will play at home against Apollon Patras (#12) and hope to win that game.
