Regular Season Round 20: Gandia - Alcazar 76-64

We should mention about the upset which took place in Gandia, where higher ranked Alcazar (11-9) lost to thirteenth ranked Gandia (7-13) in a road game 64-76. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Alcazar. They outrebounded Alcazar 37-26 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by Guinean forward Cheick-Sekou Conde (203-92) who scored that evening 14 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and guard Sergio Vidal (194-88, agency: Dynamics Global Management) supported him with 13 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Even 12 points and 4 assists by American guard Lamonte Thomas (187-90, college: J.and Wales, RI) did not help to save the game for Alcazar. Serbian center Goran Oluic (203-88) added 11 points for the guests. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Gandia maintains thirteenth position with 7-13 record. Alcazar at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the seventh place with nine games lost. Gandia's next round opponent will be higher ranked Blancos de Rueda (#8) in Valladolid and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
