Regular Season Round 12: Al Riyadi - Louaize 118-69
Date: February 11, 2017
An interesting game for Al Riyadi (9-3) which hosted in Beirut one of their biggest challengers Louaize (6-6). Third ranked Al Riyadi had an easy win 118-69. The game without a history. Al Riyadi led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Louaize's 38. Al Riyadi forced 20 Louaize turnovers and had a 32-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 41 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Louaize's players. Worth to mention a great performance of Nigerian power forward Alade Aminu (210-87, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Three Eye Sports) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 6 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) and the former international forward Mohamad Haidar (201-90, college: Michigan Tech) who added 19 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. Five Al Riyadi players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American Travis McKie (201-92, college: Wake Forest, agency: Diamond Sports) with 18 points and 6 rebounds and his fellow American import center Wendell Lewis (208-89, college: Alabama St., agency: HMS) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Al Riyadi have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains third position with 9-3 record having just two points less than leader Homenetmen. Louaize at the other side keeps the fourth place with six games lost. They share the position with Moutahed. Al Riyadi will play against league's second-placed Byblos on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Louaize's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Zouk to the arena Tadamon.
