Very important is a home loss of second ranked CB Canarias (15-5) against seventh ranked Gran Canaria (12-8) on Saturday night. Host CB Canarias was defeated by Gran Canaria in Tenerife 70-60. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of CB Canarias. It looked good early as CB Canarias took a 4-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Gran Canaria had a 23-12 second period charge getting the lead and CB Canarias was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 60-70. American-Slovakian swingman Kyle Kuric (193-89, college: Louisville) nailed 15 points for the winning side and the former international Pablo Aguilar (202-89) accounted for 11 points and 5 rebounds. The former international center Fran Vazquez (209-83) came up with 12 points and 8 rebounds and American forward Tim Abromaitis (203-89, college: Notre Dame) added 10 points and 6 rebounds respectively for CB Canarias in the defeat. Four CB Canarias players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gran Canaria maintains seventh place with 12-8 record. CB Canarias at the other side keeps the second position with five games lost. Gran Canaria will play against league's leader Real Madrid on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. CB Canarias will play against Baloncesto Fuenlabrada in Madrid and hopes to get back on the winning track.
