Regular Season Round 37: Iwate Big Bulls - Shimane SM 49-51

Sixth-ranked Iwate Big Bulls (9-26) gave a tough game to second ranked Shimane Magic (28-6). The visitors from Shimane managed to secure only two-point victory 51-49. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 12-9. But Iwate Big Bulls won second period 13-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American forward Josh Davis (203-91, college: San Diego St.) nailed 7 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and his fellow American import center Wayne Marshall (211-86, college: Temple) accounted for 8 points and 7 rebounds. Point guard Koji Nagata (180-81) came up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds and American power forward Nicchaeus Doaks (201-87, college: Chattanooga) added 14 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Iwate Big Bulls in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Shimane Magic have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. They maintain second place with 28-6 record having just one point less than leader Gunma. Iwate Big Bulls lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 26 games lost. Shimane Magic will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Iwate Big Bulls will play again at home against the league's second-placed Shimane Magic (#2) and hope to get back on the winning track.
