Regular Season Round 19: Polfarmex Kutno - Asseco 64-80

There was no surprise when 15th ranked AZS Polfarmex (4-15) lost to thirteenth ranked Asseco (9-11) in Kutno 64-80. Asseco forced 22 AZS Polfarmex turnovers. Strangely AZS Polfarmex outrebounded Asseco 38-23 including a 30-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by AZS Polfarmex's players. The former international point guard Krzysztof Szubarga (178-84, agency: AB Agency) fired 19 points and 8 assists (perfect behind the arc making all five shots) for the winners. The former international forward Piotr Szczotka (196-81, agency: Alti Sport) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. Four Asseco players scored in double figures. American point guard D.J. Thompson (173-85, college: Appalachian St.) produced 21 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and Canadian center Michael Fraser (203-84, college: Oklah.Baptist) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Asseco maintains thirteenth place with 9-11 record. AZS Polfarmex at the other side keeps the fifteenth position with 15 games lost. Asseco's next round opponent will be AZS Koszalin (#14) at home. AZS Polfarmex will play against TBV Start in Lublin and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
