Second Stage Round 1: Sparta - Musel Pikes 76-79

Sixth-ranked Sparta (9-10) used its home court advantage to challenge Musel Pikes (16-3) in Bertrange on Saturday. The visitors from Stadrbredimus managed to secure only three-point victory 79-76. However their fans expected much easier game. Musel Pikes shot 65.3 percent from the field. American swingman Jarmar Gulley (196-91, college: Missouri St.) nailed 24 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side and international forward Jean Kox (196-90) accounted for 16 points. American forward Brad Reese (200-88, college: Texas Tech) came up with 24 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and the other American import forward Titus Robinson (201-90, college: Buffalo) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Sparta in the defeat. Four Musel Pikes and five Sparta players scored in double figures. Musel Pikes will meet at home Etzella (#4) in the next round. Sparta will play against Amicale in Steinsel and hope to secure a win.
