Regular Season Round 37: Ehime OV - Fukushima 92-69

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Fukushima (22-14) against fourth ranked Orange Vikings (16-20) on Saturday night. Visiting Fukushima was crushed by Orange Vikings in Matsuyama 92-69. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Fukushima. The game was mostly controlled by Orange Vikings. Fukushima was better in third quarter 26-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Orange Vikings dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Fukushima's 44. Orange Vikings forced 20 Fukushima turnovers and outrebounded them 42-26 including 29 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Yoshihumi Nakajima (176-90) who helped to win the game recording 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. U.S. Virgin Islands center Craig Williams (206-89, college: TCU) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. American forward Terrance Shannon (203-90, college: VCU) answered with 15 points and 8 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and the other American import guard Cedric Bozeman (198-83, college: UCLA) added 13 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Fukushima. Five Orange Vikings and four Fukushima players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Orange Vikings maintains fourth place with 16-20 record. Fukushima at the other side keeps the second position with 14 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
