Regular Season Round 9: Barsy Atyrau - Astana 67-80

An interesting game for Astana (14-0) which played road game in Atyrau against second-best Barsy Atyrau (4-6). Leader Astana managed to get a 13-point victory 80-67. Astana outrebounded Barsy Atyrau 41-27 including a 37-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a good game for Greek Leonidas Kaselakis (202-90) who led his team to a victory with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Greek guard Dimitrios Katsivelis (196-91) contributed with 6 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Astana's coach Ilias Papatheodorou used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Ryan Cook (191-90, college: UMBC, agency: HMS) answered with 10 points and 8 rebounds and the former international power forward Mikhail Yevstigneyev (201-84) added 10 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Barsy Atyrau. Astana have an impressive series of fourteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 14-0 record. Defending champion Barsy Atyrau keeps the second position with six games lost. Astana will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Barsy Atyrau will play on the road against Kaspiy Aktau and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
