Regular Season Round 17: Mondeville - Landes 82-79

The biggest surprise took place in Mondeville where host Mondeville (10-7) edged league's leader Basket Landes (12-5) 82-79 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Basket Landes. The hosts trailed by 14 points after three quarters before their 28-11 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Mondeville made 22-of-25 free shots (88.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Basket Landes helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was power forward Marieme Badiane (190-94) who scored 25 points and 6 rebounds. The former international point guard Kristen Sharp (175-81, college: Cincinnati) chipped in 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!). International Celine Dumerc (169-82) produced 11 points and 9 assists and Serbian Nevena Jovanovic (182-90) added 20 points respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Mondeville have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Bourges. Basket Landes at the other side dropped to the third position with five games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Lattes Montp.. Basket Landes will play next round against Nantes Reze trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Mondeville will try to continue on its current victory against twelfth ranked Angers at home.
