Regular Season Round 17: Hainaut - Lyon 71-66

No shocking result in a game in Saint-Amand where ninth ranked Hainaut (7-10) defeated 11th ranked Lyon (4-13) 71-66. Lyon was ahead by 1 point after three quarters before a 23-17 charge of Hainaut, which allowed them to win the game. They made 19-of-22 charity shots (86.4 percent) during the game. Hainaut forced 22 Lyon turnovers. Point guard Joyce Cousseins-Smith (165-88) nailed 17 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals for the winning side and Czech swingman Romana Hejdova (184-88) accounted for 18 points and 5 rebounds. Mali center Djene Diawara (192-85) came up with 14 points and 9 rebounds (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and American forward Lauren Ervin (191-85, college: Arkansas, agency: Two Points) added 11 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Lyon in the defeat. Four Hainaut and five Lyon players scored in double figures. Hainaut moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Nice. Lyon at the other side dropped to the tenth position with 13 games lost. Hainaut's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Flammes in Charleville and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lyon will play at home against Bourges (#5) and hope to win that game.
