Eighth-ranked Albino (8-10) gave a tough game to second ranked Empoli (15-3). The visitors from Empoli managed to secure only three-point victory 61-58. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests were ahead by 2 points but lost the second period ending it with a 2-point deficit before their 15-10 run, which allowed them to win the game. Empoli outrebounded Albino 35-24 including 25 on the defensive glass. Czech center Klara Pochobradska (186-89) notched a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and Lithuanian forward Gabriele Narviciute (190-90) supported her with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Empoli's coach Alessio Cioni allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 16 points and 5 assists by guard Linda Manzini (176-90) did not help to save the game for Albino. Croatian guard Lana Packovski (170-94) added 18 points and 4 assists. Empoli maintains second position in A2 with 15-3 record behind leader Sesto SG. Albino at the other side keeps the eighth place with ten games lost. Empoli will play against Cagliari CUS (#12) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Albino will play against Costa Masnaga (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
