Regular Season Round 19: Muro Basquet - Barbera 82-86

Rather expected game when 7th ranked Muro Basquet (7-9) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Barbera (11-5) 86-82 on Saturday. Barbera forced 21 Muro Basquet turnovers. Strangely Muro Basquet outrebounded Barbera 51-38 including 19 on the offensive glass. Muro Basquet was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for point guard Sergio Guardia (188-88) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Center Luis Lopez (205-95) helped adding 10 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side Senegalese center Mouhamadou Diop (212-83) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 16 rebounds and guard Miguel Corbacho (192-79) scored 25 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Barbera maintains fourth place in Group A-A with 11-5 record. Newly promoted Muro Basquet keeps the seventh position with nine games lost. Barbera will face league's second-placed Mollet at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Muro Basquet will play against Valls Nutrion (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
