Very expected game in Cordoba where 9th ranked Atenas (11-20) was edged by fifth ranked Quimsa (18-14) 89-86 on Sunday. Strangely Atenas outrebounded Quimsa 45-28 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American Aaron Harper (203-81, college: Mississippi) stepped up and scored 20 points and 4 assists for the winners and the former international forward Nicolas Romano (200-87) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American power forward Roquez Johnson (201-92, college: Mississippi St.) with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 17 rebounds and Puerto Rican guard Jezreel De-Jesus (185-91, agency: Interperformances) scored 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Quimsa and four Atenas players scored in double figures. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Quimsa. They maintain fifth place with 18-14 record. Atenas lost their third game in a row. They keep the ninth position with 20 games lost. Quimsa will face La Union (#8) in Formosa in the next round. Atenas will play on the road against Regatas Corrientes and hope to win that game.
