Regular Season Round 18: Milano - Bolzano 81-47

Very expected game when 11th ranked Bolzano (4-14) was crushed on the road by fourth ranked Milano (13-5) 81-47. The game was mostly controlled by Milano. Bolzano was better in second period 16-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Bolzano's 34. Milano forced 22 Bolzano turnovers and outrebounded them 43-29 including a 20-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for forward Giulia Maffenini (175-92, agency: Two Points) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds. Latvian power forward Liga Vente (191-91, college: Eckerd) contributed with 11 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Croatian power forward Ivona Matic (189-86) replied with 6 points and 12 rebounds and guard Madalena Ribeiro-Da-Silva (170-90) added 12 points in the effort for Bolzano. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Milano maintains fourth position in A2 with 13-5 record. Bolzano at the other side keeps the eleventh place with 14 games lost. Milano's next round opponent will be higher ranked Team Crema (#3) on the road and it may be the game of the week. Bolzano will play against San Salvatore (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
