Regular Season Round 19: Pielagos - Santurtzi 65-64

There was an upset in Renedo de Pielagos where higher ranked Santurtzi (10-6) was edged by eleventh ranked Pielagos (7-9) 65-64 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 19-10 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Santurtzi was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for naturalized Ukrainian center Volodymyr Orlov (208-95) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks. Senegalese center Abdoulaye Seck (205-92) helped adding 13 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side guard Xabier Martin (186-81) responded with 12 points and point guard Pablo Aranzabal (186-91) scored 9 points and 5 rebounds. Santurtzi's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Pielagos moved-up to seventh place in Group A-A, which they share with 4 other teams. Santurtzi lost their third game in a row. They keep the fifth position with six games lost. Pielagos will face higher ranked Easo (#3) in San Sebastian in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Santurtzi will play at home against the league's leader Estela having rather not much hope for a victory.
