Fourth ranked Valencia Basket (14-5) crushed at home 13th ranked Zaragoza (7-13) by 33 points 100-67, which is the biggest margin this round on Sunday night. The game without a history. Valencia Basket led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Zaragoza's 26 and made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Zaragoza 36-18 including a 28-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Valencia Basket looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Zaragoza was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international swingman Fernando San Emeterio (199-84) stepped up and scored 8 points and 7 assists for the winners and American forward Luke Sikma (203-89, college: Portland) chipped in 16 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was Serbian power forward Stevan Jelovac (208-89, agency: BeoBasket) with 20 points and 6 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and the former international point guard Tomas Bellas (185-90) scored 10 points and 6 assists. Four Zaragoza players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Valencia Basket moved-up to third place, which they share with FC Barcelona. Loser Zaragoza dropped to the twelfth position with 13 games lost. Valencia Basket will face Joventut (#14) in Badalona in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Zaragoza will play at home against Baskonia and hope to win that game.
